Australian Aboriginal Art lesson

This week you will learn about the beautiful art of the aboriginal people of Australia. After exploring aboriginal culture and the different styles of x-ray and dot painting, you will choose an Australian animal to draw and add a beautiful painted background.

MATERIALS:

construction paper

colored pencils

markers

q-tips

paint

glue

scissors

The Dreamtime and aboriginal art

Steps for Aboriginal art project

1.) Pick an animal from Australia’s land, sky or surrounding seas.

2.) Draw an outline of your chosen animal on colored construction paper. Add details in the x-ray style in marker, crayon or colored pencil.

3.) Using the aboriginal dot style, paint a background on a piece of colored construction paper that is a different color from your animal.

4.) Cut out your animal and glue on background.
