Subjective - based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.

Example: “I think my art is the best in the school.” (this is based on your opinion but not everyone may agree.)

Objective - not influenced by personal feelings or opinions and representing facts.

Example : “ Russia is the largest country in the world.” ( This is based on true facts, not on my opinion)

Expressionism - A type of art that tries to express a feeling not facts. Expressionist artists tried to express their emotions through different types of art. This included painting, writing, dance, music and even movies.

Who was Paul Klee?

Things to think about…

1.) Do bright colors and simple shapes relate more to emotion than real looking images?

2.) Can Paul Klee’s paintings seem mysterious or dreamlike?

3.) What is the essence of an object?

Paul Klee by Mike Venezio

This is a great read aloud of Mike Venezio’s book on artist Paul Klee.
