Russian Onion Dome Architecture Project
This week you will create architectural drawings inspired by Russian onion domes most famously found on St.Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow. You will use patterns to add detail to your architecture and then use marker, crayon or pencil to color your creations. If you have washable markers you can use the marker bleeding technique to add bold color to your buildings.
Materials:
White paper or colored construction paper
pencil
black sharpie or marker
Markers( washable is best), crayons or colored pencils

More than that it has a rich culture and history that boggles the mind. From its world class ballet to its amazing architecture, Russian culture has always been unique.

Making Your Onion Dome Building
Below you will find instructions on how to draw an onion domed building. Follow the instructions to complete your own onion domed building and add patterns and colors. Try to use bold colors and eye catching patterns.
I have also included 4 pages of templates of architectural features of onion dome churches. You can use these as inspiration for your drawings or even trace over them on your computer screen. Then color them in, cut them out and assemble them like a puzzle into a building on another sheet of paper!
